Jesus was a great communicator. He spent a great deal of his time teaching the crowds and instructing the disciples. When he commissioned his disciples it included the mandate to teach.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
At King’s we take teaching the Bible seriously. Hopefully that doesn’t mean that it’s without humour! It does mean that at our Sunday meetings and through courses we run, that teaching the Bible is central. Sometimes we teach verse by verse, going through a book of the Bible. At other times we pick up themes to teach from.
At our Sunday meetings, after the time of worship, the children go to their activities and one of our leaders speaks from the Bible.
Over the years we have taught through Bible books: Ephesians, 1 Thessalonians, Revelation, Mark, Judges to name a few. We have taught on Bible characters: Elijah, David, Moses. We have covered themes and topics too and there are one-off messages from guest speakers too.
